Merely seeing disease symptoms may promote aggressive immune response

This University of British Columbia (that's in Canada, aye) study suggests that the mere observation of sysmtoms of illness in others may send the immunes system into hyper drive. I found this very interesting because it suggests that even our involuntary and unconscious reactions may be directly linked to our voluntary consciousness. This would mean that the unconscious drive that triggers our immune system response had it's own cause/effect logic that is completly seperate from our normal awarness.
