Hair Growth Gene Found in Humans

Hair, it seems useless, but in fact it has many functions. It can regulate temperature, act as sensors, camouflage, physical protection, and even help social interactions. The gene, Lhx2, regulates the growth of your hair. The growth phase of the hair on your head can be a duration of years, whereas your eyebrows can be a couple months. Eventually, the hair follicle will start a new growth phase and reject the old hair strand, which falls off your body. This is also controlled by the Lhx2 gene. The gene is important because it might eventually help find a cure for baldness!
