Redefining Medicine with Apps an IPads

Redefining Medicine with Apps and iPads

This Article is about how new technology is becoming useful to the world of science. They specifically talk about the iPad and the apps available that are not only used for games and actually useful for medicine and other educational purposes. Dr. Alvin Rajkomar had a patient that needed an infusion of saline but was unsure how to go about this depending on the concentration and volume without leading the patient to brain swelling, seizure, or death. He grabbed his iPhone and used an app called MedCalc and it gave him the right rate to start the saline at. They are not saying that you can rely on every app but learning more about technology will be a huge advancement. People usually stay away from the young doctors due to little experience but these young doctors are the ones with more knowledge with the new technology and are going to become a big part in the medicine and science departments.

  1. I think its a little scary to think that a doctor is using an app on his iPad to figure out how to treat a patient, I would be getting a new doctor! But very interesting article.
